Preece Music

Classical and folk arrangements by Thomas Preece

Ocarina Repertoire Volume 1

C Edition

Book cover: Ocarina Repertoire Volume 1

This book is the first in a new series of repertoire books for the ocarina. It aims to provide music for those who have moved beyond the initial learning stages. The pieces are suitable for concert performance, and can be played on almost any ocarina, pendant or transverse, with 5 or more holes.

Starting with traditional folk songs from around the world, the book moves through famous classical solos and duets, ending with a complete arrangement of Mozart’s famous Eine Kleine Nachtmusik suite.

This edition is for ocarinas in C – an alternative edition is available for ocarinas in D.

Arrangements In This Book

  • All Through The Night
  • Down by the Sally Gardens
  • Bear Dance (duet)
  • Alouette
  • Amazing Grace (duet)
  • The Battle Hymn of the Republic
  • Shortnin’ Bread
  • Hej Sokoły
  • Korobeiniki (duet)
  • The Prince of Denmark’s March (Trumpet Voluntary) – Clarke
  • Rondeau L’Agreable – Marais
  • Prelude from Te Deum – Charpentier (duet)
  • Morning from Peer Gynt – Grieg (duet)
  • Rondeau from Fanfares – Mouret (duet)

Please note: this book was originally written for pendant ocarinas, and so some of the advice on playing techniques may not be relevant to transverse or inline ocarinas. For pieces with harmony parts, it follows the Langley convention of notating all parts in the first octave of the treble clef, regardless of the octave the ocarina plays in. All of the music is playable on any style of C ocarina.
