Classical and folk arrangements by Thomas Preece
This book contains five pieces arranged for a “ukulele quartet” of soprano (high G), tenor (low G) and baritone ukuleles and classical guitar. The main principle of the book is that when multiple instruments are played in harmony, the individual parts don’t need to be particularly complicated to produce an interesting musical effect. The arrangements have therefore been kept simple, so as to be playable by the widest range of players – especially the guitar parts, which are intended to be manageable for ukulele players who also play a bit of guitar, rather than necessarily needing an experienced guitarist.
The arrangements are all presented first as a score in standard musical notation, and then as parts in both standard notation and tablature. They should be reasonably accessible to players of all abilities, with the accompaniment parts (tenor and baritone) generally being simpler than the melodies.
